we all are gypsies of a sort wandering traveling through this life other lives space and time here there and yon on roads less traveled - this is a written and visual journal of my own travels - imagined and/or real - come along with me - we'll dance among the stars under the sun and over the moon - share our stories around the campfire - come along -

this site is simply a streamofconsciousness rambling of words and images in which i find meaning and beauty - there is no organized order of thought or format -
poetry painting and writing on love and life and things thereof from the heart and through the eyes of a louisiana gypsy spirit travelin' roads less traveled...enjoy -

My photo
A...WOMAN IN MOTION WITH HAIR AS DARK AS NIGHT HER EYES WERE LIKE THAT OF A CAT IN THE DARK... SHE WAS A GYPSYWOMAN... she danced round and round... from the fire her face was all aglow... she was dancing... dancing... waiting for the RISING SUN... loving caring relationships are like THE RISING SUN...we are nourished by their warmth...we are energized by their strength...we grow in their light...we find shelter and solace there...they are our sanctuary... born in the sign of the sun, i am a true LEO-love the sun and its hot orange red fire-passionate in and about everything i do-i believe in instant chemistry charisma love/lust at first sight-in the magic of the eyes and the beauty of the soul-in the instant recognition familiarity in meeting someone from a past life and in the knowledge that we might meet in a future life-i believe that we are each ageless and flawless-i believe in the beauty of the moment-the whisper of yesterday-the hope of tomorrow-the power of forgiveness for even ourselves-the absolute and total beauty of love---[credit to brian hyland and curtis mayfield]

stuck in ghosts...

i been livin' with ghosts all my life
can't git rid 'uv 'em try as i might

thinking nobody could tell
if i went all to hell
and back
but what the heck
i was just stuck down there up to my neck
in ghosts...

to be set free...

they say that love will set you free
but what about the likes of me
will i be freed to be the me of me

and if i show you how i love if i tell you how i feel
will love then take my own free will
will i be freed to love you still

as i do now

the moon tonight...

there's a lonesome moon
hangin' o're my bed tonight
do you feel it too?

these lines of mine...

do not think
that with these lines
my love for you defines
for my want of you
defies all lines

postcards from the caravan...words from the road...

in my dreams of you
i felt you there
with me along the way
soaring gently above

wings spread to the moon and back
gliding in and out of my thoughts
cradling me in the night
in my dreams of you
i felt you

* * *
it's painted all over your heart
you know the place
the place you go when love first starts
when it cuts through deep and sharp
it's written all over your face
you know the place
the place you hide from the race
when happiness leaves without a trace
* * *
do you remember when
way back then
we danced the dance
only two can chance
and you held me tight
all through the night
how i wish with all my might
that i'd just got it right
way back then
when we danced the dance
do you remember when
* * *
missed that first train
and the last train
then i found you
and i've been born again
* * *
now i lay me down to sleep
and in my heart i do thee keep
while my waking heart quietly weeps
for there it cannot you keep
* * *
if i had known you before
if i had shown you before
if i had loved you before
would it be different now?
well, i did
and i do
* * *
in the begin of time
you would be mine
if the seas did not us separate
if the winds did not whisk us apart
and if the heavens betrayed us not
you would be mine
till the end of time
* * *
it was a time of shattered souls and broken hearts
that time when we were ripped apart
a time of fractured nights
and days dissolved into oblivion
it is a time of broken souls and shattered hearts
* * *
i was lost in the dark
forgot who i was
then i found you
and i am
who i am
* * *
you're so far away
and i'm here to stay
send me a letter from home
i'm so all alone
pen it with your love for me
fill it with your lust for me
seal it with a kiss
i'm so all alone
send me a letter from home
from far far away

* * *
as i drove on my recent road trip
i scribbled little snippets in my notebook -
these are some of those -

come lay with me...

come lay with me
in silent streams
sing to me the ancient dreams
whisper songs of loves regime

hear in me the unheard screams
that leave behind their silent schemes
then touch in us the one true theme

lay me down on gossamer wings
and fly with me to nights raw gleam
then taste in me the silken cream

come lay with me
till the gods redeem
and grant us grace in their esteem
come lay with me

this crimson vessel...

heart’s so full
of dark gray clouds
got me in its pull
wanna scream out loud
but sound don’t come
to a heart heavy as mine
thoughts turned numb
stayin' alive just to pine

seems the skies above

feel the same bleak way
weepin’ my loss of love
drippin’ sadness night and day

rains come down

deep into my soul
so ‘fraid i’m gonna drown
and it stings me so

trickles down thru my flesh

strippin’ ‘way all that’s left
leavin’ nothin’ but an empty mess
like a sneaky sinister theft

winds of despair

leavin’ my mind tossed about
can’t rebuild can’t repair
this crimson vessel full of doubt

walkin' the blues...

you ask about my words
words of sadness
of heaviness of haunting
cloudy words
words colored with the blues

their sounds of sorrow
come from the shadows
of those dark streets
where the sun don’t shine
where love is a one-way
dead-end alley
the heart’s barren tenements
testimony to the emptiness
of lonely days where
the only defense from
the elements of reality
lies in the black cloak
of endless nights
the only light beaming
down from last years
twinklestars in the sky
james dean walkin’ down
in times square
that’s no longer square
just a closed circle
no way in no way out

and it’s true i feel haunted
but aren't we all
haunted by someTHING
by ourSELF?
from this life or
another life
haunted for sure
and threads of that haunting
trailing along with us still
leaving a legacy to be told
to be spoken
to be woven into words
haunted threads
waiting to be woven into words
and when the weavin’ is done
displayed for all to see
to feel to taste to hear

yeah, i’ve walked those streets
the streets of the blues
saw you there one night too
walked those blues
most of my life
know the neighborhood
like the back of my hand
the dark empty streets
with the harmonica wailin'
from the shadows
the streets of the unfulfilled
the unrequited the unlived
the avenue of unlove
the avenue of unlife
still walkin’ those blues
right beside you

travelin' woman...

hey, travelin’ woman,

            wandering here
why i don’t see you ever’ year?

travelin’ woman,
whatchu done seen?
why, you can’t be more’n eighteen-
            wandering there
            you sellin’ them wares?

travelin’ woman,
whatchu been doin?
you gotcha some tattooing?
            wandering everwhere
you seem to walk on air

travelin’ woman
twisting on yur pretty gold fan
all them bracelets danglin’

red skirts blowin’ in the wind
black hair standin’ on end
hips swayin’ to the tamborine
lips like big round tangerines

travelin’ woman,
you one of them gypsy queens?

the pretty little girl and the hen...

there once was a pretty little girl
with a head full of long ringlet curls

satin ribbons and bows adorned her long hair
she much preferred just going all bare

the mother dressed her in crispy white frocks
pretty white sandals and sheer sheer socks
layers and layers of ruffles she wore
she hated it all when she was but four
staying inside was not her thing
she’d much rather be out on the big rope swing

pleasing the mother though was what she did
after all, she was just a little kid

then one day the mother left for a while
and out the door she raced with a smile

under the big oak tree she did sit
playing in the grass she could not quit

she sat and sat and wiggled her toes
and watched the clouds row after row

dreaming and floating and dreaming some more
all she wanted was the mother to love to adore

she thought if she had just one special gift
the mother’s dark mood surely would lift

she loved the chirps of the little birds
if only she could sing without words

so she blew and blew and blew again
before she knew it she heard a sweet strain

again and again the sounds whispered through her lips
now she’d surely win the mother’s kiss

pleasing the mother was what she wanted to do
after all, she was just a little kid who needed love too

then the mother came home to her delight
and with her gift to make things bright

the little girl whistled and whistled with all her might
but the mother just looked down with her mouth all tight

and said to the pretty little girl
with the ringlet curls

a whistling woman and a crowing hen
always come to a very bad end!
