BINDLE, BAG, OUTFIT, KIT, SUITCASE, GEA...HOME-SACK:
BINDLE, BAG, OUTFIT, KIT, SUITCASE, GEAR or BOX... how do you carry your stuff?
Imagine carrying your kitchen pots in a box while panning for rides out on the highway or holding a suitcase, while standing on the side of the road in the rain. People look lost, hitch-hiking with a box and a suitcase is "attirely" out of place. Most hitch-hikers don't even own a suit. When you're hitch-hiking, military garb is good gear to grab but unless you're the real deal, don't over do it.
I carried all of my belongings in a knapsack that I purchased from an army surplus store. The Viet Nam War era piece was contoured and not boxy. Most of all, it was G.I. tough and waterproof. It had a single compartment in the main section and small outer compartments that had rain flaps over the zippers. Yes, I did often wonder about the soldier that wore it, before me. However, riding around the USA, for ten glorious years, on the back of a harmless transient, who was traveling via "SHOE LEATHER EXPRESS", was a noble retirement for the foot soldier's knapsack. The Spiritual Hobohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06187725786199179735noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8192546280809331581.post-23987036746257908902011-02-11T09:45:41.278-05:002011-02-11T09:45:41.278-05:00and i am always so humbled by your kind words tris...and i am always so humbled by your kind words trish - it's true that i do write what is in my heart but it's really my heart that says it all - and all the voices that live there - in my heart! ;)GYPSYWOMANhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03042621041213415958noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8192546280809331581.post-73095385608087315722011-02-11T09:44:31.779-05:002011-02-11T09:44:31.779-05:00greetings, dear linda! so great to have you come ...greetings, dear linda! so great to have you come by - yes, what more beautiful image than one of waterhouse's? all of his women have such beautifully expressive faces i think - and wistful fits this woman perfectly i think! hope all is well with you and yours there in beautiful californiacountry! ;)GYPSYWOMANhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03042621041213415958noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8192546280809331581.post-73028858277601390822011-02-10T21:11:16.782-05:002011-02-10T21:11:16.782-05:00Your talent and ability to speak what's in you...Your talent and ability to speak what's in your heart continue to astonish me.Trish and Rob MacGregorhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02846270474176860924noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8192546280809331581.post-59312333595616217372011-02-10T21:08:35.652-05:002011-02-10T21:08:35.652-05:00such beautiful wistful words to go with this lovel...such beautiful wistful words to go with this lovely wistful picture...xoxoL'Adelaidehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10725322054223364858noreply@blogger.com
