been wantin’ me some candy
somethin’ sugary and sweet
sure come in handy
been wantin’ me somethin’ sweet
just a little ole’ treat
so i head right down the street
down to the corner candy store
gonna pick and choose and pick agin
a little now and then some more
think i’ll have me a big old’ licorice stick
to put between my ruby red lips
yeh, that might be my pick
maybe a gooey milky way
send me straight to the stars
leadin’ me all astray
or a chocolate covered cherry
just wanna little suga’ fix
sure don’t wanna marry
git to the door and what’d ya know
candy store ain’t what it usta be
pickin’s is slim and bizness is slow
so i turn me ‘round and head on back
the lesson to be learned i guess
fix me my own little sweet snack

hey lady susan! thanks so much for dropping by over here - have a great day!
good morning zuzana - oh, thanks so much for the comment about the candy store - and about the irish boys! even if no single ones! but drat!!!! and what a mess of boys, too!!!! wow! very neat! yes, my paternal grandmother hails from county antrim and i long to visit my homeland there - and in the highlands of scotland - and in france - a mix, we are, to be sure!
;)
Oh, Jenean, where is the nearest old-fashioned candy store where, yes, I can get me a real licorice stick? You're so right. I'm too afraid to buy candy anymore... all of it is filled with that yucky aspartame that damages the brain! When I find a candy store, I go crazy, like a little kid.
Your little piece made me smile... :-)
Have a lovely weekend!
Nevine
I want Candy...!
fun fun!
hmm.GW- it's never as good as we remember it, is it? ~rick
Sweet Jenean!
I couldn't stop smiling all through the poem.I like it!
But do tell me what exactly you had in mind when you wrote this..want to know what brought forth such an unusual poem.
Lots of love and hugs
Deboshree
this is why I always stay inside, Jenean: I'm no candy!
And if you believe that...
oh, candyman - uh, sorry, i mean, roger! you silly goose!
;)
dearest nevine - well, you know, there's the artificial sweetner - and then there's the real thing - sugar! glad you were smiling here - so was i!!! oh, and i'm always like a little kid in candy store - or so my adult children tell me!!!
deb, me, too - hence, the little fluff fluff tidbit here! glad you enjoyed - sometimes - actually, a lot of the time, life and love just need to be a little, a lot of fun!
hmmmmm.....rick -
thanks for taking time to come by and leave a note - i just left your place - and now must just absorb -
and dear dear deboshree! well, i'm smiling now reading your note - and i was smiling when i penned these little words of spoof and fun - so glad you enjoyed!
oh, and you'd have to check with that big rambunctious full moon up there as to the why of such as this!
