i hear the voices in my head
never listening to what they’ve said
for while they ring of truth and right
they leave me cold in the night
to be held close in love and light
is all I want with all my might
that part of me that seeks to reason
i leave to ponder in life's seasons
i choose instead my heart’s own sounds
never listening to what they’ve said
for while they ring of truth and right
they leave me cold in the night
to be held close in love and light
is all I want with all my might
that part of me that seeks to reason
i leave to ponder in life's seasons
i choose instead my heart’s own sounds
as with their warmth they me surround
and so my heart rules ‘oer my head
i’ll live by love when all is said
and so my heart rules ‘oer my head
i’ll live by love when all is said

Missed you Jenean. How have you been?
I hear voices in my head always and I so try and listen to them but sometimes I pretend that they don't exist.
Hugs and love,
Susan
Well... this brings to mind ..Sister Mother superior..when I went to Catholic school.....unfortunately she did not like me much..I spent most my time in her office...they planted lots of voices of guilt in my head.. yet I never listened :-)
Lovely poem. And I love the Pre-Raphaelite image.;)

How precious are all written words, I choose them o'er the song of birds; and here you've done them such a favor - please go on, that I might savor.
Oh my friend,
Sometimes I'm stunned. These words that you have written..they are JUST the way I feel. I can relate to them so well!
Love love love..that's the only feeling worth living for.
Much love,
Deboshree
well, susan, those voices that you don't listen to must be the untrue-to-you voices, don't you think? it's good you are able to differentiate - thanks so much for coming over, susan! your visits mean a lot -
marlene - ouch! catholic school! don't even want to go there! literally and figuratively!!!
zuzana - hello there! wonderful to see you again - and yes, i love the pre-raphaelite images too - they seem to speak to me -
and cathy! i am so humbled by your own beautiful words for which i am so grateful! thank you - please come again soon!!!
greetings deboshree - oh, i think we all share so many things - perhaps even most things - which makes my little words seem more than they might otherwise -
I adore this poem and the painting fits enormously well with the first line. The rest unravels beautifully. Only love holds the power to rule heart over head.
Thank you so much for joining my blog and taking the time to read my words.
