the lionman sits in stone-carved wait
for all the children at his gate
the days are short the time draws near
and peace comes not to those who fear
for it is said that in the end
what it was will just begin
and peace comes not to those who fear
for it is said that in the end
what it was will just begin
those who were will be again
you could be you or maybe kin
the seers know for what to see
as what they see will come to be
there is no secret to believe
no gods seek thee to deceive
the key to all is given all
to save themselves from the fall
to live now to live again
is simple really it’s all within
the ancient kings hold not the keyyou could be you or maybe kin
the seers know for what to see
as what they see will come to be
there is no secret to believe
no gods seek thee to deceive
the key to all is given all
to save themselves from the fall
to live now to live again
is simple really it’s all within
‘tis your own soul will set you free
who will decide to be or not to be
the lionman sits in sun and sand
your lives not his to command
he sits
he waits...
a re-post from travel journal - enjoy!

Oh, Gypsy! I do love this. He has been the keeper for so long... and he will be keeping... keeping... always!
These lovely words of yours... touched me... so very personally!
Nevine
The lionman is very patient, I see. I like the symbolism here, dear Jenean.
Been a while but I've never felt that I was away. The warmth and love this place radiates is like the eternal waiting of the lionman.
Joy always,
Susan
I absolutely love this poem. And the image is compelling and speaks so loudly for the words. Hope your trip is going well!
I remember this poem of yours. It struck a chord with me as well. I do love it and the chosen photo. The sands of time will hopefully hold onto the Lionman, for this Leo has many things to do before I approach his gates.
Hope all is well with you and yours.

yes, he has, nevine, yes, he has, indeed - these words touch me, too, as i've always always had such an affinity for egypt - as long as i can remember i have thought of it as "home" on some level or other - and it is that, to the world, actually, in many ways - and its status must never be compromised or forgotten - so glad you enjoyed second time around!
and dear susan - yes, it has been a while - and it does my heart well to have you come by with such kind words as you always have! my own time in blogland has been so limited for so long and remains so, i'm afraid and so, i've missed very much the wonderful visits with all my friends here, and especially you - i do hope you will continue to come by whenever you are so inclined - your light warms the campfire!!!
yes, i love this image so much, trish! it is magnificent in and of itself - the moment i saw it, i knew it belonged with these words -
as does this leo, cole, as does this leo - i've many many things to do and miles to travel before - if ever - i reach the gaze of the lionman!!! thank you so much for coming by, dear lady!
