from islands and highlands
from shores of emerald green
from mountains high with rushing streams
they came to live their life-long dreams
leaving behind the place of their birth
traveling here in a third class berth
they brought with them the crest of their clans
from the lovely lands where it all began
danced their jigs and told their tales of yore
of life and love on those far shores
here they lived and here they died
for a better life they truly tried
and so it is that their own offspring
now long for kilgary and dancin’ the fling
yearn to return to the home of their hearts
to live their dreams right from the start
on islands and highlands
and shores of emerald green
from shores of emerald green
from mountains high with rushing streams
they came to live their life-long dreams
leaving behind the place of their birth
traveling here in a third class berth
they brought with them the crest of their clans
from the lovely lands where it all began

Wow, this really brought their hopes and dreams home to me.
hey nancy - yes - i think we too infrequently think of/realize just exactly what our ancestors hoped and dreamed of and worked for - and left their families and homelands for - and that was a better life - just think of the determination they had and the sacrifices they made! this couple is my paternal grandmother [from county antrim] and grandfather [the highlands of scotland] -
Beautiful photie! :¬)
(ps. I think you're magic too!) :¬)

oh, thank you, dear map! yes, my grandparents, i think were both beautiful - see how their eyes look right into you!
and thanks so much for the other kind words, sir [in response to the vanity of this leo]!
many hugs to you and yours -
What a wonderful photo! And you certainly capture what immigrants went through and the dreams they brought with them.
