might it be that what others see
is but their version of what is me
for eyes cannot pass beneath the skin
to them in thoughts I bore their sin
loving you to their chagrin
is but their version of what is me
for eyes cannot pass beneath the skin
to them in thoughts I bore their sin
loving you to their chagrin
might it be that what others saw
was but their life’s own sanctioned flaw
their hearts bound in thick steel gloves
beating not to heaven above
their long lost souls
blind to love
might
it
be

You are so right!
Bravo! You are back in full form. Love this one, Gypsy. Love them all, actually.
might be and it is. What others see is their own perception and at times far from what we are
Your words are so true!! Really well said!
And do come visit anytime--no invitation needed....!
No one can ever truly know what another is feeling...beneath their skin. So true Gypsy. I happen to have one of those types of faces...let's call it what it is....'Bitch Face'....and others around me presume that what they are seeing is a cranky sour person...and those that presume this would be wrong because under this face (a psychic once told me my face was a curse) there is a warm hearted loving sensitive person....gave up caring what others think long ago....hope these two lovers did as well. Beautiful poem, and I love how you printed it onto the post...very creative.
Hope you're enjoying some cooler temps...its been steamy here.
Funny synchro for you...my face...and my last name. My married last name ends in grim! ha...and with my face I guess it was the universes joke on me. Now my daughter never liked her last name because of this (fortunately she's not cursed with my sour face...but when she got married her last name was changed and it now ends in ceri...which is pronounced cheery! Can you believe it...the trickster! Having a good laugh I suppose.
xxoo
It is a great place to be when we stop worrying what others think.
hello there, alex! and how neat to have you drop by today! far too often others do not see nor take the time to try to see deeper than skin deep so to speak - and far too often, as well, simply cannot - it is upon us to do with all that as we will - for better or worse -
hey trish! thanks so much - i do love this piece too - far too many lost souls blind to love, real love, i think -
you're right, just because, very right - many do not see cannot see that which is - which really is - blinded by their own lackluster loveless lives - and caring not to look into the heart - their own heart - wonderful to have you come by -
so happy to have you drop over, dear lady of the hills! yes, true, these words - and then, i wonder of how many of us wear our masks only too well, hiding behind our own truths making it impossible for others to see us - to really see us - i wonder - sigh -
:)
that's probably true in most cases, karen - sadly perhaps - and then, there are all those measures we take to hide to prevent others from seeing us from feeling us from knowing us - that thing of charades - the wearing of masks - living behind those strongly defended fortresses we build at times - but to find to have that one who cares not about all the masks and who sees straight into our heart - whose own heart beats with our own - ah, now, that my dear, that is worth all those insensitive uncaring judgmental others who are blinded now to love - and listen, girl, don't even go there with the bitch sourface thing - i who have never even met you have never laid eyes upon you know you as one of the most beautiful people i know - and i know you've heard of that self-fulfilling prophesy thing, right? well........
but you're also right about the trickster stirring up his dirty work with all that! ;)
oh, and karen, about these particular lovers - yes, they cared not the thoughts of others - except for those innocents who would suffer the most from their course of love had it continued - and so, then, i left, leaving my heart there -
in almost all instances, so true, pat - especially in matters of the heart -
