the crows fly overhead
dropping dreams upon the dead
crying out to those who pled
do not your feathers shed
for soon to moon you’ll be wed
and in her arms will you bed
with her stars your love is bred
do not your feathers shed
for soon to moon you’ll be wed
and in her arms will you bed
with her stars your love is bred
there will be the holy thread
all wound up in shades of red
tracking those whose hearts have fled
leaving circles where they bled
drawn in death’s cold black lead
do not think you’ve misread
listen now to what’s been said
the crows fly overhead
dropping dreams upon the dead
where will you be led?

let me just say that i wrote the words in the last 15 minutes - literally - when i sat down i had no intention no thought of crows let alone of writing about them or of anything else that is contained in these words - however, minutes before i came to blogger, i heard the sound of crows in the wooded lots out my open windows - in that same time, i clicked on a video on youtube and the first image on that video was of two crows sitting on a fence rail - then the words of the first two lines just popped into my head - and i sat a few minutes looking at them trying to figure out what they meant - and then more words came - and 15 minutes later, it is done - it's meaning is whatever it means to you - enjoy!
Beautiful and powerful..I love when they speak through the soul and sing their song..beautifully done! gorgeous poem!

greetings victoria - thank you so much for the visit and the wonderful comment - yes, how wonderful speaking to us through the soul, singing their song - so glad you came by - and thanks again for the kind words! jenean
This brings to mind the setting and feel of the movie "The Crow". The first original one. So evocative, just like your poem.;)

zuzana - i'll have to go back and catch a glimpse now of the original crow - it's been a while - thanks so much for your visit and your words, lady! have a great day!
Wow. This one is powerful, Gypsy. The entire crow image and their esoteric meaning are so perfectly expressed here.
thanks trish - i thought you would like the coming about of this one - a strange morning!
i will be led pretty much anywhere their dreams lead me if they speak with your words.
oh, ed, thank you for your words! this is one of those pieces where "they" spoke to me, through me - i had really nothing to do with it all - but my heart thanks you again! ;)
hope all is well with you there!
