they come
they come
their hearts upon the drum
they come from another place
another time
from the dark recesses
of our mind
and soar on wings unseen
the tribal elders to convene
they speak in
voices still unknown
to the lion upon the throne
and from their kingdom come
the will of them be done
by the gods’ design
of the holy trine
the human to extol
and have our souls made whole
so we must now our sins atone
and in the end we’ll be shown
the way to die without death
and breathe again another breath
they come
their hearts upon the drum
they come
they come
their hearts upon the drum
they come from another place
another time
from the dark recesses
of our mind
and soar on wings unseen
the tribal elders to convene
they speak in
voices still unknown
to the lion upon the throne
and from their kingdom come
the will of them be done
by the gods’ design
of the holy trine
the human to extol
and have our souls made whole
so we must now our sins atone
and in the end we’ll be shown
the way to die without death
and breathe again another breath
they come
their hearts upon the drum
they come
our
will
be
done

Love this, Gypsy. You outdid yourself again.
oh, thank you, trish - still feelin' a bit like being in a dark cave, but at least with a glimpse of that magnificent light - thanks in no small part to you, dear lady! ;)
come is a quite a powerful word. you use it explosively here.
She sure does use it powerfully here!
greetings, ed! wonderful to have you drop by as always - and thanks so much for your kind words - you're right about that word being powerful and i think the message of life and of the universe deserves/requires powerful words - thanks again for coming by, ed!
trish :)
Wow! Wow! Wow! So powerful!! The rhythm of your words just grabs me by the heart...This is simply incredible! So good to visit with you again...I've really missed you. You know I love you, jenean! Thank you for your beautiful words on my blog!! ~Janine XOXO
and i, you, my dear sister!!! i, you! please come whenever and as often as you can and in-between, know that you remain in my heart and thoughts, dear dear lady!
Jenean, I so loved the rhythmic power of this piece. It sounds like an invocation... a spell... a prayer. It feels like a spirit... that drives. Beautiful and so very YOU, Jenean!
As an aside, please excuse my absence, these past few days. I have been sporadic on the web as I've been back at work for a little over two weeks, now, and have been quite overwhelmed. The dust is finally beginning to settle.
Nevine
oh, thank you so much nevine - yes, i do have a penchant it seems for this type rhythmic verse - especially of late - must be something in the air - and/or my dreams! ;) wonderful to have you drop by - and please, i know all about life getting in the way of our bloglife at times - can be a real bummer - but things do even out after a while, don't they? ;)
have a great remainder of the week!
