we all are gypsies of a sort wandering traveling through this life other lives space and time here there and yon on roads less traveled - this is a written and visual journal of my own travels - imagined and/or real - come along with me - we'll dance among the stars under the sun and over the moon - share our stories around the campfire - come along -

this site is simply a streamofconsciousness rambling of words and images in which i find meaning and beauty - there is no organized order of thought or format -
poetry painting and writing on love and life and things thereof from the heart and through the eyes of a louisiana gypsy spirit travelin' roads less traveled...enjoy -

THE GYPSYWOMAN WORLD

My photo
A...WOMAN IN MOTION WITH HAIR AS DARK AS NIGHT HER EYES WERE LIKE THAT OF A CAT IN THE DARK... SHE WAS A GYPSYWOMAN... she danced round and round... from the fire her face was all aglow... she was dancing... dancing... waiting for the RISING SUN... loving caring relationships are like THE RISING SUN...we are nourished by their warmth...we are energized by their strength...we grow in their light...we find shelter and solace there...they are our sanctuary... born in the sign of the sun, i am a true LEO-love the sun and its hot orange red fire-passionate in and about everything i do-i believe in instant chemistry charisma love/lust at first sight-in the magic of the eyes and the beauty of the soul-in the instant recognition familiarity in meeting someone from a past life and in the knowledge that we might meet in a future life-i believe that we are each ageless and flawless-i believe in the beauty of the moment-the whisper of yesterday-the hope of tomorrow-the power of forgiveness for even ourselves-the absolute and total beauty of love---[credit to brian hyland and curtis mayfield]

SPIRIT SHIPS SAIL...

spirit ships sail
through the black veil

true true love’s done gone astray
seems to have lost its lonesome way

as dream shadows fall
from the dark side of the moon
ripples of time they can’t recall
sleepin’ stars in a blue lagoon

and lost souls mourn their blind eyes
can’t hear nothin’ for the hue and cry
slivers of hope cast to the skies
waitin’ on hearts to open wide

but the crow flies its straight path
headed now to the glory bath
ain’t gonna git in the way of love’s bloody wrath

don’t nobody know deep down inside
where true love’s gone to hide

and spirit ships sail
through the soft pale

the jagged terrain...

he comes from a place far away
a place where night is day
and day brings no light
like a devil's dark blight
where love’s gone astray
and can't find its way
a place where barren is the land
like pearls of a broken strand
and cross the mountains deep
windswept tears sweep
the jagged terrain
like a ragin’ train

yes, he comes
from a place
far away

he comes
from
my
heart

he
comes
to
me

he
comes
for
me

these bare walls...

bare walls
these bare walls
display now the fragments
of what was
the ribbons and colors of us
hanging dangling now in oblivion
as do we
brandishing about
our naked desires
exposing for us to see
the unseeable the invisible
the unthinkable
of life apart
each without the other
these barren walls
flaunt the fractures and fissures
of frigid reality
of my reality
our reality
these walls bare
my soul my spirit
my love my lust
your lust love
uncontrollable craving
carving striping away the shroud
of make believe
of what we wanted needed
of what could be
what we would be should be
leaving open and crusted now
my bleeding heart
bleeding weeping seeping
through the cracks and crevices
of life without color
without substance
life without you without us
without love
life without living

these walls bear
the crucifix of love defied
enduring all for love alone
these walls suffer
my sins your sins our sins
bearing the weight
of what we wanted what we took
in greed and gluttony
as if our shallow skeletons
would shatter without the oasis of us
these walls also bear
love defined love sublime
love in this life unlived unfulfilled
abiding the transcripts of time and place
bearing me bearing you into us
carrying into the next life
holding and carrying gently
love into that existence
bearing us both
until that morrow
when these walls
will no longer be
bare

mojo man...

it’s all true you know
those things you hear
about him
about what it is
that he does
what it is
he really does
you know what i mean
those “things” that he does
with that stuff he has
the stuff you can’t get nowhere else
you know the stuff
that stuff his stuff
it’s all true you know
those things i hear
when he comes near
when he whispers in my ear
when he pulls out that little
indigo instrument of his
when he stirs up his magic mojo
stirs up all those crystalline dreams
stirs ‘em all up into crimson streams
ties ‘em together with corrugated strings
all them beautiful things
you know what i mean
you hear ‘em too
don’t you
yeah, i know you do
you hear ‘em too
you know what i mean
when he pulls out his little stash
THE stash
yeah, THAT stash
all that sweet sugary stuff
that ain’t none never enough
that makes us beg for more
that trips us to that other shore
the one where life ain’t so bad no more
or the one where life’s shut all the doors
it all depends on his stuff of the day
the stuff of come what may
the stuff of findin’ the way
the way into the heart of things
into the guts'a things
into the deep dark black'a things
the divil'a things
the burnin' hell'a things
into the truth'a things
the beauty'a things
the real'a things
the real deal things
yeah, those things
those “things” that he does
your know the things
those things
that most of us
never even hear of
never know of
never deal
never feel
never fill
never will
never experience
even in the blackest night
let alone on a sunlit day
when life’s gone astray
has slapped us in the face
stingin’ our flesh like a squirt of mace
has robbed us deserted us
left us alone in the desert sands
without ev’n no layin’ on of hands
without no map no drink
sendin’ us straight over the brink
no shelter from the storms of life
leavin’ us in the midst of all that strife
when life has lost its everlovin’ mind
beatin’ us down and all our kind
but then just like the sunrisin’
on a misty morn’
like a breath'a fresh air
with all kinds’a love to spare
here he comes
yeah, here he comes
carryin’ his little magic wand
his magic mojo wand of indigo ink
danglin’ it in front of us
wavin’ it 'round
makin’ those marks of his
marks can’t no one else even compare
marks no one else would even dare
marks that take us round and round
makin’ us think we’re heaven bound
and just like pavlov’s dogs
there we go pantin’ and pawin’
salivatin’ motivatin’
whimperin’ whinin’
lappin’ up his stuff
all his stuff
lappin’ it all up off those virtual paper plates
sniffin’ snortin’ inhalin’ exhalin’
all of it
all his stuff
yeah, you know what I mean
that stuff
the stuff that ain’t never enough
the stuff of all them magnificent mystical tales
you know what i mean
his STUFF
that indigo ink stuff
yeah, that stuff
every single drop every last drop
till there ain’t nothin’ no more
till all those words'a his
just slam shut the door
SLAM it shut
right straight shut
yeah, shut!
shut!
shut till the next time
you know what I mean
the time
yeah, that time
THE time
the NEXT time
when he next comes ‘round
makin’ us think we’re all heaven bound
givin’ us a fix on what is what can be
what should be
a fix on love an’ light
an’ all things right
slap through the day into the night
takin’ you to all them pearly heights
when he does his thing
you know the thing
that thing he does
with his stuff
that stuff that more ain’t never enough
that thing that he does
when he pulls out his magic pen
and it all begins
again!

again
with him...
and his magic mojo pen

for all’a us
yeah, you know who i mean
you know the ones - US
us - his junkies...
his WORD junkies

gypsywoman who are you

i see you here i see you there i see you everywhere
but who are you gypsywoman with sweet words and a pretty smile
your spirit tempts taunts but do i dare

would you could you be the gentle breeze here today and gone tomorrow
softly fluttering sooth my aching heart ease my hidden sorrow
* * * * * * *

a gentle breeze i am not

i am the storm of storms
a gale force wind
the temptest fierce the raging tsunami taking with it all defenses
sweeping away washing away the debris of yesterday - this life transcend

so do you want to know - to really know - the who and what of me
or would you rather just imagine me on the playground of what if
where your heart of stone is safe and sound from the likes of me this wild banshee

the flight of the phoenix...

out of the burning embers
the mighty phoenix rose
all he’d done no one knows
even he does not remember

he spread his ancient wings
into the crimson sky
away from the streets did he fly
longing to hear the angels sing

dragging behind
the shadow of his soul
nothing now his to control
with the smell of burning flesh
his spirit now enmeshed

and from this life
he begged to part
to cleanse his anguished heart
of all his sins he did repent
only to find his time was spent

and to raise once more his mighty sword
against the maddening raging horde
of those he once called friend
who now were set to cause his end

it once was his across the land
he had the world at his command
but memories tainted by that crimson time
of life on streets when none was kind

the sound of his tears crash to grey concrete
where black leather wraps his weary feet

tracks gouged in the flesh of his face
like a lonesome railroad criss-crossing the landscape of his life
where might he go for a touch of grace?
a land without knife without sword without strife

and so it was that the bird took flight
choosing no longer to fight the fight
of waging chaos night after night

he flew through the valley of the darkened dead
charging his mighty wings ahead
and changed his ways of war
to those of heaven afar

and from his fall from grace
the phoenix prayed salvation wait

and with this flight of righteousness
the holy gods upon him blessed
giving his spirit its needed rest
no longer on its violent quest

and in his stead
a righteous man a valiant man
before us now proudly stands
who of all sin now has shed

and to us proves each golden day
that love of life is our true stay

the only way

for this new man
who now before us stands

the valiant phoenixman

lost days...

we should
consider
every day
lost
on which
we have not
danced
at least
once

been so long...

been so long since the sun did shine
in this little ole’ heart of mine

body’s all tired an’ depressed
makes me think its possessed

pregnant spirit bout to burst
beginnin’ to see it’s a curse

ain’t had no lovin’ in such a long time
just hope i ain’t gotta turn to no crime

don’t know which is worse
love hunger or spirit thirst

neither one ain’t no good
but'cha know i done what i could

gotta wash away all this glum
need me a little jamaican rum

slip on my red dancin' shoes
step on out in life all new

git me a bite of somethin’ sweet
have me a little suga’ treat

gonna do more’n what i can
and git me a good-lovin’ man
