THE GYPSYWOMAN WORLD

My photo
A...WOMAN IN MOTION WITH HAIR AS DARK AS NIGHT HER EYES WERE LIKE THAT OF A CAT IN THE DARK... SHE WAS A GYPSYWOMAN... she danced round and round... from the fire her face was all aglow... she was dancing... dancing... waiting for the RISING SUN... loving caring relationships are like THE RISING SUN...we are nourished by their warmth...we are energized by their strength...we grow in their light...we find shelter and solace there...they are our sanctuary... born in the sign of the sun, i am a true LEO-love the sun and its hot orange red fire-passionate in and about everything i do-i believe in instant chemistry charisma love/lust at first sight-in the magic of the eyes and the beauty of the soul-in the instant recognition familiarity in meeting someone from a past life and in the knowledge that we might meet in a future life-i believe that we are each ageless and flawless-i believe in the beauty of the moment-the whisper of yesterday-the hope of tomorrow-the power of forgiveness for even ourselves-the absolute and total beauty of love---[credit to brian hyland and curtis mayfield]

So true. Their land was taken away and they were sent to reservations, very cruel. I remember Marlon Brando was fighting for the natives too, he refused to pick up the Oscar. I noticed the gypsy camp picture here on the side of your blog and it reminded me that when I was small in Sicily people used to believe that gypsies stole young children so I was always afraid to walk alone for fear of encountering them. When we lived in India many years ago I found out that gypsies are originally from Rajasthan.

I wonder if they celebrate or mourn today

lady from italy - ah, marlon brando! yes, indeed, and i remember that stand he took, too! bravo, marlon, bravo! so many stories of gypsies as of many other groups of people who choose to follow a different drummer - while i have birthed a number of children, i have stolen none! ;)

yes, alex - so very sad - another entire nation lost and gone - my heart cries -

thank you, trish - even as a child i could not understand our "celebrating" something based upon the extermination of an entire nation of people - all for greed -

and you in mine, lovely linda, and you in mine! ;)

i doubt that the few remaining natives find anything to celebrate of this white man's day - i mourn their losses with them -

Well said. I toured the west coast of the USA a while back and kept hearing of the land the Native Americans still had. But from what I saw it was dusty and not of much use - seeing them at the roadside, selling bits and pieces didn't feel right - to say the least. I beg forgiveness too.

thanks so much for your comment, mike - interesting the comment you kept hearing about what land the american indians "still have" - as if that means something - other than the obvious - which is that before the outsiders came, this entire country was "theirs" - again, i appreciate your comment!

Thank you for a timely and gracious reminder.

oh, you're very welcome, pat - i always feel uncomfortable "celebrating" this "holiday" - so i really don't celebrate - rather just remember -
